The 4 E's
What do we mean by a Positive Political Culture?
A Positive Culture can be defined by the following characteristics:
ENLIGHTENMENT
This is about how an organisation captures the hearts and minds of its
people in order to deliver organisational goals. Excellence is not just
about what we know, it is about having the right mind-set, skills, attitudes
and behaviours that underpin a coaching culture. Excellent organisations
believe in 2-way communication that is both truthful and celebrates success.
Organisations with a coaching culture recognise that having a legacy that
has integrity and the environment at the forefront of everything it does
will achieve sustainability.
EMPOWERMENT
Successful organisations demonstrate leadership at all levels. There is
clear ownership of both actions and behaviours. People are passionate
and inspired to give of the best of themselves in everything they do.
Continuous improvement and innovation are achieved as a result of open
dialogue and working in an environment where challenge and risk taking
are accepted.
ENGAGEMENT
Successful organisations create an environment of collaboration and teamwork
by being clear about what is contracted. Individuals know and understand
what is expected of them, with regular feedback being part of everything
the organisation does. Energy, trust and enthusiasm are evident though
out the organisation. In addition, excellent organisations recognise value
and embrace difference and diversity.
EFFICACY
It is well documented that coaching yields benefits to individuals and
organisations alike. Those organisations that demonstrate excellence not
only have their coaching interactions aligned with the organisational
objectives but also seek to validate and evaluate the outcomes. They measure
performance improvement and value-added to the organisation. Critical
success factors are clearly understood and a return on investment is calculated.
